Xavier, entering Saturday's game versus Creighton, was sitting at a modest 18-12 record, going 8-9 in the conference. They were set to be a bubble team, but they also needed help in winning this game. After missing an opportunity to knock off #6 Villanova, this match versus Creighton was a must win.<br />
Matt Stainbrook was the undisputed leader for Xavier. He dropped a career high 26 points, along with 9 rebounds and 3 assists. After struggling of late, Stainbrook regained confidence against Creighton. Trevon Bluiett added 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Larry Austin Jr. got a fair amount of playing time, picking up 4 points.<br />

Next, Xavier will take on #21 Butler at Madison Square Garden on March 12th. Butler and Xavier split the regular season games. Defeating Butler will help Xavier tremendously. In the end, Xavier needs every Big East Tournament win they can accumulate.<br />

Xavier needed to collect at least one more win to hop off the NCAA tournament bubble, and defeating #9 Creighton was a was a great win for that. As Xavier had obviously studied their film, they used a new form of defense to have more athletic players guarding McDermott and Wragge. McDermott still scored 27, but Wragge only put up 6 points.<br />
<br />
On Xavier's side, Semaj scored 21 points, Martin scored 19, Dee dropped 15, while the big men Philmore scored 8, Jalen with 6, and Stainbrook with 5. Even though the big men didn't contribute as much on the offensive spectrum, they played a key role on the defensive side, slowing Creighton's volatile offense.<br />

Now that the Musketeers are 20-9 and alone in 3rd place of the Big East, they are more than likely off of the bubble.<br />
<br />
Xavier takes on Seton Hall on the road at 7:00 p.m. on Monday night, and this game is very key to solidify XU's bid in the NCAA tournament<br />

<br />
Xavier (15-5), needed this tough road game to improve and strengthen their tournament resume. That didn't happen. Xavier was rusty early, but Justin Martin (19/7/2) had a great game, especially early. Semaj didn't take a shot until 7:51 1H remained, but managed to scrap together a 18/4/2 line late in the game trying to bring Xavier back.<br />
<br />
Providence came to play, propelled by their 6th man. A game I believe XU would of won at home, was the same case for Providence. Bryce Cotton played well, living up to his season stats.<br />
<br />
Xavier's defense was awful, which ended up killing them late. No matter what comeback Semaj and the Musketeers tried to scrap together, the defense would allow the Friars to swap baskets, unable to string together points.<br />
<br />
Xavier falls to tied for 3rd in the Big East with Providence. The Muskeeters face Seton Hall on 2/1. <div style="text-align: left;">
Xavier started the game, swapping buckets but began to struggle near the end of the 1st half. Christon performed great again (18/4/1), but it was a great team effort, as Davis contributed (17/1/7), Along with Philmore (14/5/0), Farr (9/6/0), and Martin (10/7/2). </div>

On Monday, January 20th, at 4:00 p.m. in Illinois. the Xavier Musketeers will face DePaul Blue Demons. Xavier is (4-1) 14-4, while DePaul is (2-3) 10-8. DePaul suffered tough losses to Creighton and a suffering Marquette. But, had clutch wins against Butler in 2OT and St. John's by 2 to stay afloat in the conference. Xavier has done well in the conference, Beating Butler by 9, Marquette by 7 and Georgetown by 13. The Musketeers lost their perfect record by losing a well played game to Creighton.<br />
<br />
Xavier's Semaj Christon is on a hot streak at the moment, and I believe it will continue and inevitably improve. I predict Semaj Christon drops a clutch 28 points, and I predict Xavier defeats DePaul on the road 88-67.Cincinnati Sportshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13116027721206445989noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2596683991460052194.post-920929949664448862013-12-30T12:10:00.000-08:002013-12-30T12:10:22.335-08:00Xavier speeds by Wake Forest 68-53, looks forward to St. Johns (St. Johns Prediction and preview) <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Saturday took on the Wake Forest Deacons at the Cintas. I attended, so I was looking forward to the game very much. To start the game, the Musketeers and the Deacons were trading the lead, leap frogging back in forth.<br />
<br />
Xavier was very impressive, riding Stainbrook mainly with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Christon contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists, and so did James Farr (13/7/0), Dee Davis (7/2/7), and Isiah Philmore (4/9/0). Xavier had momentum and un-doubtful control the entire time.<br />
<br />
If winning 5 games straight doesn't excite you enough, Xavier is one of 10 teams to have a strength of schedule of 50 or better and have 10 or more wins... Can you name the rest?<br />

Answers: Syracuse, Villanova, Kentucky, Oregon, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, Iowa State, Colorado, UMass, and of course, Xavier.<br />

Xavier takes on St. Johns at the Cintas Center for the first Big East game of the season. St. Johns is 9-3 on the season, losing to Penn State, Syracuse and Wisconsin. Solid losses for the team, but Penn State is not. Xavier has been playing great, while St. Johns is on a 3 game win streak, but beating weak teams.<br />

Coming into the game, the Crimson Tide were picked to win by 4.5 points. Both teams were basically even, and Xavier was searching for their first win on the road.<br />
<br />
The big men Philmore and Stainbrook both collected a solid 17 points a piece, and also adding 18 boards. Xavier did a good job of getting Releford out early with 2 fouls late in the first half, but he still put up 17 points, but it wasn't enough to stop the Musketeers.<br />
<br />
XU shot 79% from the free throw line, which is unfortunately an improvement. Semaj only scored 9, but Xavier proves two games in a row that they can win games with a team effort with Semaj struggling or just not leading like usual.<br />

I'm big on stats, so here are some side by side comparisons between the teams.<br />
<span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span>

<span style="text-align: center;"> W3 Current Streak L1</span><br />
<span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span>
<span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqLyO0VA-g2g2gp7vSTwZvhcI0-1f5Xz2PUWGsTXC4eYJgSA0RvKEIj4i9K0FxrqooI_n1dycylFbRxTCOP2oGyHLl6dXBrt3EexF57pVh7Q42ZL8gTnNopaq3S-R98sdRFbjv5KiwC9YL/s1600/xu+bama.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqLyO0VA-g2g2gp7vSTwZvhcI0-1f5Xz2PUWGsTXC4eYJgSA0RvKEIj4i9K0FxrqooI_n1dycylFbRxTCOP2oGyHLl6dXBrt3EexF57pVh7Q42ZL8gTnNopaq3S-R98sdRFbjv5KiwC9YL/s400/xu+bama.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The stats are pretty even, besides the win loss column which is a lie. They loss to (11) Wichita State by 5 points and (6) Duke by only 10. They had a couple heart breakers, losing to Drexel by 2 in 3OT and USF by 2 as well. They beat teams they're suppose to and keep it close to the one's they're not suppose too. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Releford averages 17 pts, leading 'Bama and Chrison leads XU with 15.5. Xavier lead the rebound and assist category though, with Stainbrook leading with 8.5 and Dee Davis with 4.2 assists. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It will be a tough game for the Musketeers, especially looking for their first road win for the season. It is a needed win though, with the upcoming games against Wake Forest, St. John's, Butler and Marquette, all with winning records. Xavier needs to make a statement here, and I believe it's possible.</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDSUM6uarLh_mrEsZaHA7tz-v8ctehR-x3Zy3x3W5r42IkiS-F0m7MMYcwFC2kgF8tydVU9kCwGw07aVUmztoHuSg185cpVBa9VxZxajKVKaH3mRc3t1pHhT-f1WZ6bZCQEX3hxacgcW3D/s1600/jmart.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDSUM6uarLh_mrEsZaHA7tz-v8ctehR-x3Zy3x3W5r42IkiS-F0m7MMYcwFC2kgF8tydVU9kCwGw07aVUmztoHuSg185cpVBa9VxZxajKVKaH3mRc3t1pHhT-f1WZ6bZCQEX3hxacgcW3D/s320/jmart.jpeg" width="192" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Justin Martin lays one in over a UC defender, giving himself a season high 17-points.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
When I walked into the stadium, decked out in Xavier gear, University of Cincinnati fans expected a big UC win. They were cheering, yelling and shoving XU fans before the game even started. They got a rude awakening. </div>
<br />
What surprised me in the game was Xavier shooting 11-16 from the three point line. They realized that they're three game was on and took advantage of a non-motivated UC defense. I was also surprised Semaj Christon only scored 8 points, and also how well Xavier performed when Christon was on the bench early with two fouls. Last shocker was Myles Davis only inputting 1-1 from three point range, which is surprising based on how many were shot and made.<br />
<br />
Last thing I noticed was that it was probably 70%-80% UC fans, but for most to all of the game, the small Xavier sections were louder and way more into the game, but winning 64-47 makes that easier.<br />
<br />
NEXT GAMES:<br />
<br />
8-3 Xavier at 5-4 Alabama on 12/21 7:00<br />
7-2 Cincinnati vs 10-0 Pittsburgh on 12/17 7:00, on ESPN.<br />
<br />
Here are the highlights, in case you missed it or want to re-live it.<br />

Almost everyone that's a Reds fan and even some that aren't read or heard about the Twitter ordeal including Jamie Ramsey (@JamieBlog on Twitter) and (www.BetterOffRed.com). and @DaRedsWinPOW on Twitter got in an argument on Twitter. At first, it looked like nothing, just disagreeing about Tommy Johns Surgery. Eventually, DaRedsWinPOW called Ramsey a "Long-haired que*r" and a "Dusty Dick Rider." Ramsey then sent a DM to the other account, wanting to beat him up.<br />

Jamie Ramsey is fantastic as the Reds Media Relations and he is my inspiration for what I do. (Twitter,Blog) He is the best Reds fan I know. I have met him numerous times at RedsFest, and I should say he is a great person. I understand he made a mistake, and I do not condone this action, but I am "backing him up."<br />
<br />
Now, I know making a blog post about it isn't helping to put it in the past, but let's do that now. Let's worry and support the Reds, and forget all this. Everybody makes mistakes, and Jamie Ramsey doesn't often.Cincinnati Sportshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13116027721206445989noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2596683991460052194.post-62161765853637401522012-08-08T13:02:00.003-07:002012-08-08T13:02:38.549-07:00Why are the Reds taking such a long time for Votto to get back?<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">The Reds are taking their jolly good time getting Votto back</span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3ZZY3JgijYszFBKZx2uDYyjhD5cBI-nuZXcb3uf7B8uFA-LoWY7qAoe37QXw0AllJSzQeJk5mePbEFqAoWS_kJTqNCSBgtO0WJLrSFwn6oeDiccER-sdrXafWDQ_Hv30rRzmJjnZl-OpC/s1600/Joey+Votto.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="207" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3ZZY3JgijYszFBKZx2uDYyjhD5cBI-nuZXcb3uf7B8uFA-LoWY7qAoe37QXw0AllJSzQeJk5mePbEFqAoWS_kJTqNCSBgtO0WJLrSFwn6oeDiccER-sdrXafWDQ_Hv30rRzmJjnZl-OpC/s320/Joey+Votto.jpg" width="320" /></a><b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
the last time Joey Votto played in a game was July 15th, 2012. He went 2 for 3 with a double as the Reds won against the Cardinals 4-2. After that game, the Reds were on a 6 game winning streak. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX7sRc7FsJet-E0_IFTGQXQHaBkuneLSFxuCmuNv0dQwmlZy-7JYcegi8AxDvmZCR2LScxjfKJZx66bgSj_h-GmFZsORCr8l_a3ogKAwI6qpbCo2URLuevXnc4o25mpaC8kSWbHfnsQTiJ/s1600/votto.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="295" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX7sRc7FsJet-E0_IFTGQXQHaBkuneLSFxuCmuNv0dQwmlZy-7JYcegi8AxDvmZCR2LScxjfKJZx66bgSj_h-GmFZsORCr8l_a3ogKAwI6qpbCo2URLuevXnc4o25mpaC8kSWbHfnsQTiJ/s400/votto.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The next day, the Reds and Votto agreed on knee surgery, which would put him out 3-4 weeks. As of August 8th, he still is not back. You could say the Reds are taking their time, which they are. Due to Votto's injury, his projected HR is only 21, which is lower for Joey. He is also only projected to play in 127 games. Since Votto has been gone, the Reds record is 16-6, with the game on the 8th being played right now. So there is no need to rush Votto back.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Certain Reds players have stepped in the former MVP's absence. Some players being Scott Rolen, Ryan Ludwick and Xavier Paul. Ludwick has increased his average almost 40 points in the past few months, while Rolen having clutch hits and getting on base. Xavier Paul was called up when Votto went on the disabled list, and he has proved that he deserves to stay up. Paul's average is .375/.423 OBP (9 for 24). He also has 2 doubles and 3 RBI's in 24 AB's. He mainly lives in the PH role, but has starts from time to time. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So, get healthy Votto, we are rocking and rolling without you.</div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Something may or may not happen during tonight's game.</b></span></div>

Yes the pitcher. Latos slammed a 2-R shot to left field to extend the Reds lead to 3-0, which would hold the rest of the game. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In the 9th inning, when Aroldis Chapman was pitching, and Andrew McCutchen was batting, Chapman beamed McCutchemn with a 101 MPH fastball on the shoulder. McCutchen starred down Chapman, walking slowly to first. Chapman and the Reds would win soon after 3-0. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Post game, McCutchen said quote: "*expletive* them. *expletive* them" speaking of the Reds. Numerous fans between the 2 teams have been bickering in person or social media such as Twitter. We will see how the Pirates respond, if they do, on the, in my opinion, unintentional hit-by-pitch. We will have to see, if the Pirates decided to hit somebody, who it is since Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips are out of the line-up due to injury. We will have to see. </div>

Cozart has hit 2 very nice singles, but not scoring or driving anybody in. Heisey hit an inside the park HR off the wall. The Reds lead 1-0 as Latos has been dominate. </div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
MLBTradeRumors has announced that in exchange for Dernard Span, the Twins want a MLB starting pitcher. I see no way no how the Reds will do this.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
As of July 29th, the Reds have used the same 5 starting pitchers the entire season. The staff's starting pitchers claim 41 of the Reds 61 wins (an overall 41-26 record for starters.) 67% of the wins. Nothing is wrong with the Reds current rotation, and actually they are on a huge roll, the Reds winning 10 straight.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white;"> Leake has the worst record as a starter on the Reds roster, (4-6) but there is little to no chance Leake is a trade item. Bailey is the most likely out of the rotation to be traded, but I highly doubt it.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white;"> Span is not an essential, so I think the Reds just threw out all thoughts on acquiring Span. </span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">Why the Reds <b>WILL </b>Juan Pierre</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I believe the Reds will get Juan Pierre because of some simple reasons.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW_nTXzq5g5qA_ag9-6F7XMEDRur1crAJQ-vpUDYpKgKvL-bD-Ei9xslHEOaY_9isZMy9pRCIJTQLL-j2uwqyUHunN1mRiDnQ783V1SKWCdHzF29khhxaOA8TvESt1iAjXs3b0QSXOCdUH/s1600/juan.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW_nTXzq5g5qA_ag9-6F7XMEDRur1crAJQ-vpUDYpKgKvL-bD-Ei9xslHEOaY_9isZMy9pRCIJTQLL-j2uwqyUHunN1mRiDnQ783V1SKWCdHzF29khhxaOA8TvESt1iAjXs3b0QSXOCdUH/s400/juan.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
#1. He's cheap. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Pierre's contract is only $500k (started in minors start of year) and he is getting up there in age. The Phillies wouldn't ask for too much, compared to Victorino or former trade-bait Cole Hamels. The Phillies wanted Ondrusek for Victorino, and I can only imagine that Pierre would be considerably cheaper than that.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
#2. He has speed.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
When the average MLB fan thinks of Pierre he will either say "Who?" or "That fast guy?". Juan Pierre is well known for his speed, and it isn't over talked. As he is no Billy Hamilton, Pierre has considerable speed, comparable to Drew Stubbs, give or take. Pierre's speed has declined a little due to age.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
#3. Top of-the-line up batter.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfgByi_4tAcM4rG2yJbqh6rH8I0q6NJ5baOmmI-FcSC9cNWm1vq9ln_FWB4XmUtwEax7QA1xTAv_w-hgsWL0jAngmVHXjhzYmllbzHN1rZ2t-U5h3tM1FeZaL6qM7c2Nss3FkshAJcLwpv/s1600/oh+juan.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="270" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfgByi_4tAcM4rG2yJbqh6rH8I0q6NJ5baOmmI-FcSC9cNWm1vq9ln_FWB4XmUtwEax7QA1xTAv_w-hgsWL0jAngmVHXjhzYmllbzHN1rZ2t-U5h3tM1FeZaL6qM7c2Nss3FkshAJcLwpv/s400/oh+juan.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
his whole career, Pierre has batted 1st, 2nd, 7th or 8th. He is fast and he gets on base. Alot. he makes good contact, and would love seeing him lead off games for the Reds, getting on base to have Votto, Phillips, Ludwick and Frazier to drive him in. I could also see Phillips and Pierre becoming good friends. I don't know, maybe that's just me. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
#4. He's batting .300+</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
If Pierre joined the Reds he would be only the 3rd Red with a .300+ average. (Votto, Paul). Juan is batting .305 thus far, and no, he doesn't have 6 AB like Quentin earlier in the year (had a .456 AVG). Pierre's career average is .297, and he is in no way a power hitter, but he does make solid contact. He doesn't drive in a considerable amount of batters because he leads off usually. He is a run type of guy. He would fill the outfield and lead-off situation at the same time. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It's a win-win.</div>Cincinnati Sportshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13116027721206445989noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2596683991460052194.post-48174061956883887882012-07-27T02:51:00.002-07:002012-07-27T02:51:15.165-07:00Will the Reds REALLY trade at the deadline or do they have the answer?<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMlQDhVCAZ4VqjRVKoo1-tcd1nyXYwizQssYt8MT-UzR1LZSB41yfHBR96RhclbTzjnRttsWaoM7FwvFtRjFncEH0G00Oh_hscyaTx0wokc4nkh8kKD0KUTEbjwj0P1gCJMlj-tPN89rzp/s1600/gggg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMlQDhVCAZ4VqjRVKoo1-tcd1nyXYwizQssYt8MT-UzR1LZSB41yfHBR96RhclbTzjnRttsWaoM7FwvFtRjFncEH0G00Oh_hscyaTx0wokc4nkh8kKD0KUTEbjwj0P1gCJMlj-tPN89rzp/s320/gggg.jpg" width="248" /></a>Will the Reds <b>REALLY</b> trade at the deadline? </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The Reds have won 7 straight and 14 out of their last 16. they have also just played one of the worst teams in the MLB right now. So, do the Reds trade at the deadline or not?</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Some names associated with the Reds at this point are Dernard Span, Juan Pierre, Shane Victorino, and Hunter Pence. 3/4th being Phillies players. The Reds are interested in top of the line up batters, and are looking for a CF, becoming annoyed by Stubbs under performance. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Do the Reds possibly already have the answer?</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Xavier Paul, a sign and call up in response of Votto's injury has a .444 BA, 2 RBI, a double and a steal in 9 AB (6 games). He went 3-5 w/ 2 RBI in his first start with the Cincinnati Reds. Is he possibly the long term answer for the CF situation?</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkRnQ6ATe7deRiebrB8T1WzUrE31JBxk3wSkrDNnxuymIRls34Y2Vs3U_LQgqJx5XLhQmum8NVUXfpHlGdk4dUohfXItabL6comMyjP7QdNh9egwWSBLLrNTFfNsMGC87scu9oohnfJtI1/s1600/Xavvvv.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="234" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkRnQ6ATe7deRiebrB8T1WzUrE31JBxk3wSkrDNnxuymIRls34Y2Vs3U_LQgqJx5XLhQmum8NVUXfpHlGdk4dUohfXItabL6comMyjP7QdNh9egwWSBLLrNTFfNsMGC87scu9oohnfJtI1/s400/Xavvvv.jpg" width="400" /></a>If the Reds do not trade at the deadline, and Paul continues to perform, I believe he should stay with the pro team. I'm not saying that Votto should go down and Paul should stay up, but why should a young successful bat be sent down just because the roster spot he was replacing is back. Who can honestly improve the MLB team better? Xavier Paul or Miguel Cairo? (Cairo batting .145 BA w/ 6 RBI in 76 AB) Don't give the he can teach the players tips excuse, because shouldn't he be in AAA if you honestly believe that? MLB players know how to hit.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In the end, with the Reds experiencing a year of the rookie, I think we see our fix right in front of us. Xavier Paul.</div>Cincinnati Sportshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13116027721206445989noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2596683991460052194.post-26414524346922465212012-07-27T02:35:00.002-07:002012-07-27T02:35:53.440-07:00Stubbs and Reds continue rolling with 7 game win streak despite Votto in line-up and Xavier's regular season opening game set.<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<br />
You could call the Reds the cardiac Redlegs. The Reds sweep the Brewers, then travel to Houston and sweep the Astros to keep hot and remain on a 7 game win streak and win 14 of their last 16.<br />
<br />
Former Red Francisco Cordero came in for the close twice in the Reds vs Astros series, only to blow the game. Twice. via Drew Stubbs.<br />
<br />
On the first game, Stubbs hit a HR to take the lead 3-2 in the Top of the 9th to left. Xavier Paul, a hot call up in place of Votto, hit a RBI single later in the inning.<br />
<br />
On the 2nd blown save by Cordero (now an Astro), the Reds down 3-2, with runners on 1st and 2nd, Drew Stubbs doubles to deep left center, scoring Xavier Paul and Brandon Phillips to take the lead 4-3. A Bruce RBI single later in the inning would extend the lead to 5-2, where Chapman would shut down the 'stros as usual.<br />

(Like anyone cares that much?)<br />
<br />
#6 seed UC gets ready to take on #11 seed Texas. UC is predicted to win against the Longhorns, but some believe the strength and thickness of the Big 12 gives Texas the advantage and win.<br />
<br />
My Prediction: Cincinnati wins 71-63<br />
<br />
#10 seed Xavier University prepares for Big-East based Notre Dame. ND is a #7 seed, but ND is only predicted to win (public from espn.com/bracket) by 56.3%. It was 78% but as more people entered their brackets yesterday, Xavier shortened that gap. 10 Experts picked this game on ESPN. 6 of 10 picked Notre Dame, but an extra analysis picked Xavier, making it alot closer. XU plays ND at 9:15 on Friday.<br />
<br />
My Prediction: Xavier wins 67-66Cincinnati Sportshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13116027721206445989noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2596683991460052194.post-59549661914853110012012-03-10T17:10:00.001-08:002012-03-10T17:10:51.565-08:00XU convincingly defeats Saint Louis 71-64 and the A's outplay the Reds<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Today, Xavier took on Saint Louis in the semi-finals of the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament. Xavier dominated the first half, going into half-time leading 29-23. Saint Louis came back late in the second half, but it wasn't enough when Xavier went on another run.<br />
<br />
Tu Holloway lead XU with 21 points and shooting 6-14 from the field. The freshman Dez Wells trailed Holloway with 18 points and 6-8 from the field. Wells made all 6 of his free throws which came up huge late in the game today. Mark Lyons improved his performance from yesterday by scoring 14 points and Frease scored 9.<br />
<br />
A clutch Lyons three pointer and Wells free throws gave Xavier the momentum it needed to end the game. Xavier defeated Saint Louis 71-64.<br />
<br />
Xavier moves onto the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament Finals. They play Saint Bonaventure at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Xavier's record improves to 21-11 while Saint Louis drops to 25-7. Defeating Saint Louis (being a #2 seed in the A-10 Tournament) was a huge and clutch win for the Muskies (#3 seed). Xavier's RPI improves to 37 while SLU drops to 30.<br />
<br />
Xavier is already highly predicted to be in the NCAA Tournament (even though selections are not until late Sunday Night) with the win over SLU. If Xavier defeats SBU tomorrow, they get an automatic big to the NCAA Tournament no matter what, which will only higher there seed.<br />
<br />
In the regular season, Xavier defeated Saint Bonaventure 77-64. This is still my favorite game of the XU season so far to attend.<br />
<br />
Let's Go X!<br />
